Victron MultiPlus 12/2000 wiring diagram
12 V, 2000 VA / 1600 W inverter/charger with 80 A charging. Confirm AC voltage, enclosure version and transfer-switch suffix: the generic 12/2000/80 name does not distinguish the 230 V and Compact 120 V installations.

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.
3 m one way
12 V system
- Wire
- 50 mm² · 1 AWG
- Example fuse
- 225 A
- Design current
- 145 A
- Voltage drop
- 2.6%
Sized against ABYC E-11. The design current is the part's continuous draw. The length is one way; voltage drop includes an equal-length return.
Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.
Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 50 mm² (1 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 50 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 225 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which 12/2000 is covered?
The catalog's MultiPlus 12/2000/80 name does not identify AC voltage, enclosure generation, or transfer-switch suffix. These instructions use the current 230 V MultiPlus 2 kVA, 12/2000/80 with 32 A transfer switch. Victron also publishes a different Compact 12/2000/80-50 120 V manual. Confirm the full nameplate before using the installation figures below; they do not establish the limits of every product sharing “12/2000”.
For the reviewed 230 V version, 2000 VA is not 2000 W: continuous output is 1600 W at 25°C, falling to 1400 W at 40°C. The charger supplies up to 80 A to a nominal 12 V battery.
How does the symbol map?
AC IN L / N are the incoming supply, AC OUT L / N feed the protected load circuit, and DC + / DC − connect the battery. The DC pair carries current in both directions even though the drawing labels it as an input.
Protective-earth connections, the case grounding point, VE.Bus, remote control, temperature sensing, and the small starter-battery charging connection are omitted. The internal ground relay bonds output neutral to the chassis during inverter operation and opens that bond before connecting external AC. A complete installation must preserve the required protective-earth path and output residual-current protection.
What battery wiring is specified?
For this 230 V unit, the battery-cable table, printed page 7 specifies a 300 A external DC fuse, 70 mm² per polarity for 0–5 m, or 95 mm² for 5–10 m. The unit has no internal DC fuse. M8 battery connections have a 12 N·m maximum torque. Follow the table's cable conditions and local installation requirements; battery capacity alone does not establish BMS discharge or surge capability.
How are AC and charging limits set?
The reviewed unit's AC input needs protection rated 32 A or less, reduced to suit the actual supply. PowerAssist can add inverter power to pass-through power, so output protection and cable sizing must account for the assisted output rather than copying the input rating. Crimp's terminal numbers are not a substitute for that AC design.
Configure battery chemistry, charge voltage/current, and AC input current limit before service. Use the battery manufacturer's approved BMS interface where needed. “Charger only” permits charging and AC pass-through but does not invert when the supply fails.
Where can it be mounted?
Use a dry, ventilated position with 10 cm clearance, close to but never directly above the battery. Keep connections accessible, secure heavy cables, and test transfer, charging, and protective devices after configuration.

Describe your setup to draft a system with MultiPlus 12/2000/80 connected. Review the selected parts and cable lengths, then edit the diagram in Crimp.
The model only picks parts and draws the connections. Every wire size and fuse rating still comes from Crimp's own sizing, never from the model.
