Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Supporting parts

  1. 6.1 m total of 4 mm² (11 AWG) marine cable
  2. Terminations for 4 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
  3. 15 A fuse and holder on the positive run
  4. Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which batteries and AC supply does GENIUS10 support?

The GENIUS10 is a single-bank charger and maintainer with 10 A output, intended to charge batteries up to 230 Ah. Its 6 V and 12 V lead-acid modes cover flooded, gel, maintenance-free, calcium, EFB and AGM batteries. Lithium mode is 12 V only and requires a built-in BMS; confirm the battery manufacturer's permitted voltage and current.

The linked North American user guide and NOCO's current datasheet specify 100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz. Check the unit's label and regional mains plug. Crimp's AC L and AC N represent the supplied cord, not a terminal block for field wiring.

How do the battery connections map to the drawing?

BATT + is the red positive lead; BATT − is the black return. For a battery installed in a negative-ground vehicle, NOCO directs the black connection to a substantial chassis or engine-ground point away from the battery. Complete DC connections before plugging into AC, and remove AC before disconnecting the DC leads. Follow the separate procedures for positive-ground vehicles and removed batteries in PDF pages 6–7.

NOCO's GENIUS support specifications identify a 20 A Mini blade fuse for GENIUS10. That is the charger-accessory fuse specification, not a universal fuse recommendation for a different hardwired battery cable.

The user guide requires marine batteries to be removed and charged ashore; charging aboard requires equipment designed for marine use. This catalog symbol does not establish suitability as an installed boat charger.

Which charging modes need particular care?

The mode table, PDF page 4, gives 12 V peaks of 14.5 V normal, 14.8 V AGM and 14.6 V lithium, measured at 25°C. Its 10 A figure is bulk current above 0°C; output is not constant throughout charging. First use starts in Standby, and later connections recall the previous mode.

Repair is for 12 V lead-acid only and can reach 16.5 V; NOCO says to disconnect the battery from electronics first. Supply provides 13.6 V at 10 A with live connectors and disabled safety features. Force overrides low-voltage detection below 1 V for five minutes and also disables safety features. These are separate deliberate operations, not routine charge profiles.

Where should it be placed?

Operate in a dry, ventilated location at −20 to +40°C, without covering the charger. The IP65 specification does not override the manual's dry-location instruction. The approximately 1.97 m DC lead needs roughly 30 cm slack; route it clear of moving parts and sharp edges.

Describe your setup to draft a system with Genius10 connected. Review the selected parts and cable lengths, then edit the diagram in Crimp.

The model only picks parts and draws the connections. Every wire size and fuse rating still comes from Crimp's own sizing, never from the model.
