Adventurer Li 30A
Renogy Adventurer 30A wiring diagram
Adventurer Li 30A PWM for 12/24V banks, with a 50V PV limit. Flush mounting needs at least 43mm cavity depth and ventilation; RS232 monitoring and USB are separate from the four power terminals.
- Compatible systems
- 12 V / 24 V
- Rated output
- 30 A
- PV open-circuit limit
- 50 V

Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.
Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 10 mm² (8 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 10 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 40 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which Adventurer is covered?
This walkthrough covers RNG-CTRL-ADV30-LI, the 30 A PWM flush-mount controller with LCD, USB and RS232 shown in Renogy’s Version 2.0 manual. Its specifications support 12/24 V battery banks and 50 V maximum PV input. It is not an MPPT converter; choose panels whose voltage and current suit the PWM system rather than treating the 50 V ceiling as a target operating voltage.
How do the connections map?
Crimp’s PV + / PV − and BATT + / BATT − correspond to the four screw terminals on the rear. The drawing omits RS232, the temperature sensor, Batt. Remote voltage sensing, and the 5 V / 2.4 A USB outlet. There is no separate house-load power terminal in the reviewed diagram.
Battery-voltage sensing is polarity-sensitive: keep the positive and negative sensing wires on their matching terminals. The temperature sensor is not polarity-sensitive. Neither accessory replaces the main battery conductors. Connect the battery first, verify the screen powers up, then connect solar.
What matters when recessing it into a wall?
The front plate dissipates heat. Do not bury it behind trim or put it next to another heat source. Renogy calls for 150 mm ventilation clearance above and below, protection from water and direct sunlight, and at least 43 mm cavity depth when flush mounted. Use the dimension drawing and actual unit for the cutout; leave room behind the faceplate so cables and terminals are not crushed when inserted.
A separate surface-mount attachment permits installation without a wall recess. The IP20 enclosure still needs a dry location and must not share a sealed compartment with flooded batteries.
What protection and settings are established?
The power terminals accept up to 8 AWG. The reviewed manual does not specify a numeric tightening torque or a model-specific battery fuse value. Preserve those gaps rather than copying a Wanderer or Rover installation table. Protect the battery-fed wiring and select conductor/fuse ratings for this 30 A circuit and the actual run.
Select AGM, gel, flooded or lithium in the battery menu. In Li mode, manually choose the nominal bank voltage; a deeply discharged 24 V lithium battery may not be identified correctly by automatic detection. The manual’s 14.2 V lithium boost default for a 12 V bank is adjustable in 0.2 V steps, and lithium has no float or equalization stage. Confirm the battery/BMS requirements before saving. Optional Bluetooth uses an external module through RS232; it is not built into the controller.
