Match the regional EF2200iS
This walkthrough uses Yamaha's North American 120 V/60 Hz owner's manual, first edition March 2021. The EF2200iS name also appears on other regional versions, so inspect the nameplate and receptacles before selecting cables or loads. The catalog's 15 A planning value corresponds to this 120 V version.
Specification page 8-1 lists 1.8 kVA rated AC output and 15 A. The 30 A TT-30 socket shown on page 2-13 does not mean one generator supplies 30 A continuously. The rated parallel output of two correctly connected units is separately specified as 3.6 kVA/30 A.
Feed the correct AC input
The canvas L, N and PE pins summarize the receptacle supply. Use a suitable cord and inlet to a compatible charger or inverter/charger AC input. Set the charger's input limit so its demand plus other loads remains within the generator rating. Do not tie generator output to inverter output or backfeed a shore supply.
The manual also lists a 12 V, 3 A accessory output. It is intended for small portable devices and does not establish a suitable lithium-house-bank charging profile. Use a proper battery charger for that task.
Keep protective earth and source switching explicit
Pages 1-2–1-3 cover grounding and isolation from another power source. Keep PE separate from neutral in the plan and have the complete neutral bond, RCD/GFCI and transfer arrangement checked for the receiving installation. The generic pins alone do not establish fault protection. Do not infer Honda-style grounding details for this Yamaha without checking its actual wiring diagram and regional version.
Commission and respond to overloads
Start with loads disconnected, after checking oil, fuel, ventilation and the condition of cords. Yamaha requires outdoor operation away from occupied-space openings and says this generator is not designed for installed on-board operation. Its CO sensor does not remove those restrictions.
For appliances with large starting current, follow the economy-control instructions and verify a start under realistic conditions. Reduce excess load before resetting a trip. Only use the specified Twin Tech parallel arrangement with matching generators, connecting and disconnecting with engines stopped. For storage, follow the fuel-drain procedure and maintenance chart rather than leaving stale fuel in the carburettor.
