Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Supporting parts

  1. 6.1 m total of 1.5 mm² (16 AWG) marine cable
  2. Terminations for 1.5 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
  3. 5 A fuse and holder on the positive run
  4. Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Mini input and energy use

This is Starlink Mini with the router integrated into the antenna, not a Standard terminal or a separate Mini Router. The official specification sheet gives a 12–48 V, 60 W input rating and 25–40 W average consumption. The 60 W figure is an input rating, not a documented startup surge duration. The catalog’s single average-current estimate should be checked against real usage.

Supply connection

`+` and `−` represent the Mini’s DC input via the correct cable and barrel connector. They are not bare binding posts or Ethernet power pins. Fully seat the power plug so its face is flush with the terminal. Design the source and cable so voltage at the Mini remains inside its input range under load; a nominal 12 V battery and a long cable can fall below 12 V at the device.

USB-C and outdoor sealing

The official specification requires a 100 W, 20 V/5 A minimum USB-PD source when using Starlink’s USB-C-to-barrel accessory. A charger labeled only 60 W is not equivalent to that requirement. The Mini’s IP67 Type 4 rating depends on the correct power cable and Ethernet plug/cable being installed. The setup guide explicitly says a standard RJ45 cable removes the IP67 rating.

Setup and drawing limits

Use the app’s obstruction check for the required clear sky view, connect to the STARLINK Wi-Fi network and follow the alignment prompt. Check app alerts and the rear status light before assuming a power fault. The drawing omits the network connection, cable accessory, mounting and any DC converter. It cannot verify service availability, in-motion service permissions or endurance from a changing network load.
