Cable sizing for this example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Which Cyrix-Li 230 is this?

The catalog and product label identify the Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24-230. Victron's two-page instruction sheet covers three different devices: Li-Charge connects a charger, Li-load disconnects loads, and Li-ct combines starter and lithium batteries. Use the Li-Charge column and top connection diagram. Li-ct voltage thresholds and its start-assist function do not describe this component.

The Li-Charge is a relay controlled by a BMS, not a charger or a stand-alone lithium protection system. It does not set a charging profile or limit charge current. The battery and charger still need to be compatible, and a BMS must decide when charging is allowed.

How do A and B map to the real unit?

Use canvas A for the charge-source positive and B for the lithium-bank positive. On the housing these main connections are labelled Charger + and Li-ion Battery +. The manufacturer's diagram includes a fuse between the battery and relay. Size protection for the cable and system; the sheet does not prescribe one fuse value or a stud-tightening torque.

The two canvas terminals omit essential control wiring. The supplied control cable must connect to battery negative and the BMS charge-disconnect output, as shown on page 2. A high control input, approximately battery voltage, permits connection; floating or low commands disconnection. Check the BMS output's compatibility rather than treating the relay as an ordinary two-wire switch.

Why might the relay remain open?

For a 12 V installation, closing requires BMS permission, at least 13.0 V on the charger connection, and at least 2 V on the battery connection, followed by a 3-second delay. The charger threshold is 26.0 V for a 24 V installation. No connected battery means no closure. Loss of BMS permission opens it immediately.

While closed, it opens after one hour to check that the charger remains available, then reconnects after the delay if the required charger voltage returns. With little discharge, battery voltage may stay high after a charger is switched off, so immediate separation is not guaranteed.

What does the 230 A rating mean?

The sheet rates continuous current and breaking capacity at 230 A for 12/24 V, with under 4 mA consumption while open and an IP54 enclosure. It also lists a separate 24/48 V variant whose 48 V breaking capacity is only 80 A. That variant is not the 12/24 V product pictured here; do not extend this catalog entry to a 48 V design.

Fit check

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Describe your setup to draft a system with Cyrix-Li-Charge 230 connected. Review the selected parts and cable lengths, then edit the diagram in Crimp.

The model only picks parts and draws the connections. Every wire size and fuse rating still comes from Crimp's own sizing, never from the model.
