Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.
Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 6 mm² (10 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 6 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 20 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which controller is covered?
The SmartSolar 100/15 is a 15 A solar battery charger for automatically detected 12 or 24 V banks. The first number is the PV open-circuit ceiling: 100 V, including the array's cold-weather voltage rise. Nominal array power is 220 W at 12 V or 440 W at 24 V. This is the Bluetooth SmartSolar model; a similarly numbered BlueSolar unit needs different Bluetooth hardware.
What do the terminals represent?
PV + / PV − connect the array; BATT + / BATT − connect the fused battery circuit. The physical unit also has LOAD + / LOAD −, omitted from the symbol, with a 15 A load-output limit. Do not put an inverter or a large surge load through that output: connect such loads through their own protected battery branch and use an appropriate remote-control interface if low-voltage shutdown is needed. VE.Direct and the load-setting jumper are also omitted.
The screw terminals accept up to 6 mm² / AWG 10, tightened to 0.75 N·m. Terminal capacity is not a substitute for sizing the conductor for distance, current, and voltage drop.
How is it connected and protected?
The battery-fuse table, printed page 11 specifies 20–25 A for this model. Protect the battery positive lead close to the battery. With the array isolated, connect the battery first, wait 10 seconds, and verify the detected voltage in VictronConnect. Then connect the load circuit, PV, and communications. This order matters because the controller learns the battery voltage at startup.
Check both array Voc and total short-circuit current: the model's Isc limit is 15 A. The PV voltage must exceed battery voltage by 5 V to start, then by 1 V to continue. More panel watts do not make excessive Voc or Isc acceptable.
Which settings and mounting details matter?
Select a battery-approved charging preset, current limit, and load-disconnect strategy. BatteryLife can manage the load output, but it does not replace a lithium battery's BMS. Disable automatic equalization for chemistries that cannot tolerate it; verify temperature behavior before charging lithium.
Mount vertically, terminals down, on a nonflammable surface with 100 mm clearance above and below. Locate it within 3 m of the battery, never directly above it. Full output is rated to 40°C; the connection area is IP22, so install it in a dry protected location. Confirm charging voltage and current after commissioning using the model specification table.

Describe your setup to draft a system with SmartSolar 100/15 connected. Review the selected parts and cable lengths, then edit the diagram in Crimp.
The model only picks parts and draws the connections. Every wire size and fuse rating still comes from Crimp's own sizing, never from the model.
