Dometic CRX-50 Fridge wiring diagram
Built-in CRX50 compressor fridge with removable freezer compartment. Rated 5A at 12V or 2.6A at 24V; compressor duty varies with temperature and ventilation. Dometic specifies a 15A protected DC supply at 12V, or 7.5A at 24V, and an open rear ventilation path.
- Compatible systems
- 12 V / 24 V
- Continuous draw
- 5 A

Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.
Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 4 mm² (11 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 4 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 15 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which CRX-50 is covered?
This component represents the 12/24 V DC supply of the CoolMatic CRX50 compressor refrigerator. Dometic's CRX installation and operating manual, page 39 distinguishes DC and ACDC versions and rates the CRX50 at 5.0 A on 12 V or 2.6 A on 24 V. ACDC models have additional mains equipment; the DC-only model needs the specified external rectifier for mains operation. Confirm the full model and supply marking on the appliance label.
The compressor cycles with temperature, ventilation and use. The daily-hours setting is an energy-budget assumption, not a promise that the fridge draws 5 A continuously or uses the same amp-hours every day. Measure consumption in the installed cabinet when battery endurance matters.
How should the DC supply be wired?
The DC connection instructions, pages 24–26 specify red to battery positive and black to negative, with a 15 A protected supply at 12 V or 7.5 A at 24 V. These protection ratings differ from the running current. Use the manual's separate 12 V and 24 V cable-length diagrams when choosing conductors; keep the route short and avoid unnecessary connectors or switches that add voltage drop. Check cable ampacity as well as the appliance's voltage-drop requirement.
On a 12 V supply, the internal monitor cuts out at 10.4 V and restarts at 11.7 V. The 24 V thresholds are 22.8 V and 24.2 V. These are appliance operating thresholds, not a recommended discharge target for your battery chemistry. If the compressor will not start, check voltage at the fridge terminals during a start attempt, together with connections and cable size; a satisfactory battery-terminal reading can conceal a poor feed.
What does the cabinet installation need?
The installation diagrams, pages 17–19 show cooler air entering below and heated air escaping above, with approximately 50 mm rear clearance. Keep the condenser airflow path open. The unit must be secured, and its drain kept clear.
For troubleshooting, the CRX50 table on page 36 identifies one repeating LED flash as a supply-voltage fault and five as electronics overheating. Check those causes before assuming the compressor has failed.
