Cable sizing for this example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Why does this entry say 2303?

The catalog's stable identifier predates its corrected identity. The physical component covered here is the Blue Sea 2303 Common 150 A BusBar, with four 1/4-inch-20 studs. It is not a six-stud PowerBar. The downloaded manufacturer drawing confirms the four-post layout and mounting holes.

The reviewed sources are the manufacturer's product specification and drawing. Blue Sea does not provide a separate 2303 installation manual in that product's document list.

How does the common rail work?

All four studs connect to one tin-plated copper rail. The canvas uses it as positive distribution; a separate physical rail is needed for negative. Never connect both polarities to this bar. The feed position in the drawing is a layout convention, not an isolated input terminal.

Its DC continuous rating is 150 A total, with a 48 V DC maximum. It is not 150 A available independently at every outgoing cable. Check the current through each part of the rail, especially when feed and major load connections are at opposite ends. A nominal 48 V battery can exceed 48 V during charging; compare its actual maximum voltage with this limit.

How are conductors attached and protected?

Use ring terminals that fit the 1/4-inch studs and tighten to the published 60 in-lb / 6.78 N·m. Secure the base and support the cables so their weight does not twist the studs. The optional 2715 cover guards against accidental contact; it does not provide overcurrent protection.

Protect the supply and branches for the actual conductors and loads. The bar contains no fuses. A cable-sizing result does not verify available stud space or an acceptable lug stack.

What about an older saved diagram?

New placements show the four physical posts. Older diagrams may contain extra connection taps or an explicitly customized stud count. Those are schematic connection choices, not evidence of extra studs on a 2303. Reconcile every landed cable with the four real posts and their permitted termination arrangement before building the system.

Describe your setup to draft a system with 2303 connected. Review the selected parts and cable lengths, then edit the diagram in Crimp.

The model only picks parts and draws the connections. Every wire size and fuse rating still comes from Crimp's own sizing, never from the model.
